I'm Garrett Golightly, an Art Director turned Strategist, with a rich background in interdisciplinary design. I bring a unique blend of expertise in Brand Strategy, Illustration, Photography, and Marketing. I developed my skills in Creative Strategy through diverse experiences with small businesses, major corporations, startups, and YouTube Creators. My journey has not only enhanced my capabilities in multiple creative domains but has also sharpened my aptitude for empathetic collaboration and effective communication. I believe in embracing a multifaceted creative approach—because sticking to just one thing is too mundane for my taste. I want my work to reflect life a little more than that!

In a world filled with advertising, the best way to ensure consumers care about you and your brand is by standing out. With this in mind, I aim to make any creative work I do look and feel different than competitors. Customers spending more time holding your product or on your site is not always a bad thing. Aside from being a good business decision for companies, it also helps us all have more fun in our collaboration.

Live a little ... or a lot

Life inspires any good art, so any good artist must live life well. What that means to each person can certainly be different, but for me,
I aim to live my life with plenty of space for achieving personal & career goals, loving time with friends, and doing the hobbies I love. I hope to spend plenty of my time enjoying myself because how you spend your time is how you spend your life. 

I WOULD PREFER NOT TO...

...is a phrase used by the philosopher Slavoj Žižek to describe active non-compliance. When the world presents you with limited options, there is always another option. In a boundless universe, why settle for easy binaries other people present to you? Why stick with one discipline, one industry, or one style? Dance what you feel, but be sure to Feel what you dance.

tell good stories

A good brand is a good story and to make good brands, you gotta tell good stories. I LOVE telling stories, fables even. Sometimes I even love a myth or a straight-up fib. This is something I try to carry into every facet of my creative work. Whether it is writing lore for a brand before I sketch, or painting a picture of a target market in a pitch, I want my audience captivated. We live one life, let's not waste it listening to boring pitches or looking at
boring brands.

SEEK PURPOSE

In life or for a creative endeavor, seek out purpose. You’ll find in both it can be like trying to hold the wind, but I believe the very act of attempting to find purpose is what allows us to find any. Once we do find some, it is so much easier to hold creative projects to goals and our lives to our values.

learn all that you can

If you can’t tell by the rest of this page, I love collecting skills and information. I have happily learned countless creative softwares and disciplines because I enjoy learning so much. Spending your life learning is one of the best ways to spend it. No matter how many things I learn, I cannot wait to learn more. This has also proven a great way to connect with more people, and for that, I am forever grateful to the people in my life who taught me to learn a lot and learn forever.
